gty-157239676-4_3_r536_c534 On December 7, 2012, the United States Supreme Court granted certiorari to hear oral arguments in Hollingsworth v. Perry (12-144) and U.S. v. Windsor (12-307.)  Both cases involve the issue of same-sex marriage.  While Hollingsworth wrestles with California’s Proposition 8’s ban on same-sex marriage, Windsor is concerned with the constitutionality of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA.)  Does DOMA violate the fifth amendmentArguments are scheduled for March 26th (Hollingsworth) and March 27th (Windsor.)  Certiorari petitions, briefs, and reply briefs for both cases can be found at the United States Supreme Court’s website.
