April 15th: Tax Day!

marksteinMonday, April 15th, is officially tax day.    Your 2012 tax return is due then, and your return should be postmarked before midnight on Monday.    If you have already completed your tax return, congratulations!  You will miss the angst of the last-minute filers.  If you are a procrastinator, check out the IRS website.  Form 1040 and accompanying forms are available here.  If you are a real procrastinator, request an automatic extension, using form 4868.  If you are also filing South Carolina taxes, check out the forms list at the South Carolina Department of Revenue.  South Carolina procrastinators can use SC Form 4868 to request an extension to file South Carolina taxes.

Questions about your taxes?  Check out the Internal Revenue Code (Title 26 of the United States Code) here or investigate BNA’s tax materials.  CCH’s Standard Federal Tax Reporter is also available as are resources within RIA’s Checkpoint or Tax Analysts.  Many people also use TurboTax to help.
