CVN, one of the Library’s most popular resources, has changed its name. It was acquired by LexisNexis, and is now called LexisNexis Courtroom Cast, Powered by Courtroom View Network. You are required to register in order to use it. Be sure to use your Charleston School of Law email address, and choose Charleston School of Law from the drop-down menu.
LexisNexis Courtroom Cast is an amazingly rich resource, focusing on the all-important legal practice skills. It is divided into three parts: AudioCase Files, Videos, and Courtroom Cast Training.
AudioCaseFiles offers downloadable MP3 files of judicial opinions and full written text of the opinions, along with a fact summary and the rule of law. AudioCaseFiles are accessible on any mobile device.
Courtroom Cast Video offers thousands of hours of trials, hearing, and oral arguments. You can search for cases from specific practice areas as well as for cases in specific jurisdictions or in front of a particular judge.
The Courtroom Cast Training module offers three training libraries: Trial Advocacy, Rules of Evidence, and Appellate Advocacy. You can choose the specific stage of trial or hearing you want to watch, and view streaming courtroom video highlights with expert commentary.
If you are not already familiar with the old CVN, track it down under its new name on the Library’s database page.
